As of now in Studio One 5, to my knowledge you cannot import tracks from an AAF into an already opened project. It always creates a new project. This makes it a hassle getting the AAF tracks into a template.

Would be great if you can import right into an open project like in Pro Tools, Cubase, Nuendo.

Yes Please!

Having to always start form a blank session every time we import an AAF is unnecessarily time-consuming.

Can't begin to explain how much time I've wasted having to set up new AAF session settings for EVERY imported AAF file..

The quickest way around this I have found is to drag the AAF in and immediately save and close the new song that gets created. Then you can Menu>Song>import Song Data into your current working song. I have to do this every day with Video Post sessions. It's not the greatest and it most definitely needs to be fixed, but it works.
