No matter which type of "mixed" dynamics I use the first note is held with the opening dynamic (in this case it's all played forte). The 2nd clarinet is held forte for the first note then switches to piano for the second note because it's slurred instead of tied. The expected behaviour is to attack forte at the beginning but switch to piano quickly.
