Why do written dynamics in Notion affect piano sounds so strangely?

I use Notion 6.x on a 2017 27” iMac with a powerful processor, a Fusion drive and tons of RAM, and on a 6th generation iPad. I have a lot of the Notion sounds, bought from Presonus. Currently I am writing a fair amount for piano. I find that if I write “mp” or no dynamic, the piano sounds fine. But if I write “f”, the articulation changes to marcato and higher overtones sustain longer than lower ones. If I write “mp”, the sound becomes muffled as if there were a heavy cover on the piano, and the attack becomes mushy. The more extreme the dynamic marking, the worse the result. I see that someone else has had the same complaint. Is there a magic trick to get the piano to play louder or softer without changing the attack, or to change attack without changing dynamics?

I gave up on Notion's built-in piano. I have had some success with the pianos provided with the Garritan Personal orchestra.
