I noticed that when I went to do a backup of my Songs folder…it had grown massive.  And I understand why.  It’s because I was using one song, over and over as a kind of template… without removing the media files, etc.  I was just deleting the tracks on the screen. (Yea… I’m fairly a new-bee…moved over from a Cakewalk by Bandlab environment.

But my problem came when I did Delete Unused Files - Permanently!  After I did that… everything looked fine.  So I did it for almost 30 of my originals… several of which were almost ready for release.

Since it seemed like everything played alright… I emptied my computer trash.

Now… most everything is gone,  Months of work!

Why would it delete files that ARE used in the song?

And I’d really like a better understanding of “delete unused files”, in relation to the Pool, Media, and tracks.

Really a sickening feeling to lose that much work.  Thanks for any help.

i had this same thing happen to me today. I was running out of space and went to search for the problem found recording template i used for ease of function stored hundred of gbs of takes many of which were unused all my stuff i record would start there for small stuff finding the right tempo etc then id resave as the new project continue the work from there. well i cleared out the files from the template and it ripped out all my takes that ever started in the template first in some cases were extremely difficult to do being a drummer a bassist a guitar player and piano player so that means if it mostly stayed in the template it was ruined. this was about 500gb of takes mostly unused but it grabbed used takes with zero warnings or checks and is gone and im also sick, ****** and a slew of other emotions too. i dont play easy music either for the most part thank god it didnt delete bark at the moon flying high again etc
