It seems like every time a new firmware update is released for my mixer, if I try to do a regular Firmware Update from UC Surface (either using a thumb drive or trying a network update), it fails, and the only way I can get the mixer to update is to do a Firmware Recovery where I remove the option card and power on with the thumb drive inserted. Why is this?

There was an issue with some prior firmware versions for the StudioLive AI Consoles and RM rack mixers that can prevent doing a regular Firmware Update through UC Surafce and will instead require a Firmware Recovery to update to a newer version.

The issue was corrected in firmware 9194 for AI Consoles and 9244 for RM mixers. Your mixer may still require a Firmware Recovery to get to 9194/9244, but once you have been updated to these latest versions, your mixer will have the fix and you will no longer have the problem with regular Firmware Updates in the future.
