Hello I am a worship leader and I am dipping my feet into the world of multitracks. The 1818vsl keeps coming up as a great interface to use to split the multitracks into independent channels. I see most people use the 8 outputs on the interface then go into a DI box then to the mixer. Im wondering why the DI box? Can you just come out of the interface 1/4 then straight into a mixer XLR , with a 1/4 to XLR cable?  Just wondering if the DI needs to be there for some reason? Thanks in advance

The outputs of the 1818VSL are coming out at +10db which may be too hot for the input on the mixer.

The DI box converts audio to a lower strength signal so not overdrive the inputs on your mixer which would cause distortion.
