So would you have to create a 'new' song each time you recorded with the SD card on the mixer?

So the SD card is pretty much for a one time and out, recording. Going that SD route you would have to actually create a new song each time to add tracks to your song and then keep dumping tracks to Studio one each time you did a new recording using the SD card. I can see where that wouldn't make sense - unless a full one time recording of all tracks was possible, as in a live situation. Yep - would be much better to just use the studio one software to record all your tracks, o-dubs etc... and be using the mixer for the inputs - interface with it's built in Fat channel for effects...etc... Does that make sense? I am still in the learning stage with DAW software...(have the supplied Studio One 3 software installed on my mac laptop... so need to learn how to bounce back and forth...  thx!

You can record / overdub in a single session. As in, you can record or record over what is there. Otherwise, you create a new session each time you want to record. This is how the system separates the files.

The system is not designed to provide advanced editing / punch in features.

So yes, you should use Studio One for proper mutli-tracking workflows.
