Can't seem to download the free software offered on the StudioOne website either. How do I import loops, and I also need the original patch and sample kit so I can listen to my students work, as when I try to assess their work, I can't access the sounds they used.

You should be able to go Studio One > Studio One Installation and download and install any or all of the content that is available for your version of Studio One.   If your students are only using content that comes with Studio One and are using "Copy External Files" to copy things to their audio pool you should always have access to the media they used.
