Universal Control 1.7 adds new features to the StudioLive 16.4.2 and 24.4.2 mixers that focus around Smaart Phase II integration. Our testing found that XP machines could not handle the combination of VSL with the implementation of Smaart Phase II.

PreSonus has always strived to implement innovative and useful enhancements into software updates for our users and we've now added more features into VSL for the StudioLive 16.4.2 and 24.4.2 than Windows XP could reliably handle.

Universal Control 1.6 has the same drivers as Universal Control 1.7 as well as the same features for the StudioLive 16.0.2 and the FireStudio line of interfaces. Therefore, XP users can continue to use Universal Control 1.6 for these devices without missing out on anything new in Universal Control 1.7.
