I have a FireStudio Tube and the sync chip has failed and Presonus no longer has any available, and cannot support the unit.

I would like to use the unit in standalone mode as a 16x2 mixer, using the 10 XLR pre-amps and 6 TRS line level.

Has anyone setup this up?

Has anyone modified one of these to use these pre-amps and by-pass the ADC circuitry?

There is no way to make the FireStudio Tube a stand alone device. The 1394 bus was designed to be the integral in / out system. To bypass that you'd have to know the design of the I/O chip and bus circuity which we do not disclose even though it's an EOL product. Unfortunately the parts to work on this product are no longer available which is the main reason why it went end of life.
