Coming from a loop pedal into the world of DAWs it would be very helpful to be able to automatically overdub and create new tracks at the beginning of each loop while still hearing the previous tracks.  Is there no way to automate this?  Is manually, like the aforementioned foot pedal or presumedly a key on the computer, the only way to keep recording separate tracks within a loop and continue to hear them?  It would speed up the creative process for me immensely if this is possible.

You can try binding your foot pedal to "Duplicate Track" with Control Link while having ...

  • The option to monitor the selected track on.  "Instrument Input Follow Selection"
  • Having your midi keyboard setup as default so it always assigns to new tracks.
If this works as expected hitting the foot pedal (or triggering the Duplicate Track function via some other means) should duplicate the track, put it into record and monitor, and have it also automatically assigned to the same instrument.
