I would like to see the Faderport 8 able to control Virtual Instrument Parameters (ADSR, FIlter, LFO, etc...) as a delivered function in the next update. Being able to use the Faderport 8 as a creative production tool in addition to a creative mixing tool seems like a reasonable request. I would like to have a function to select and or assign virtual instrument parameters on virtual instrument channels.

This is never going to happen. Presonus is not really interested in MIDI, only in audio - evidenced by the fact that the ability to edit instruments was actually removed  from the Mackies MCU spec, that the FP8 is based on, when they designed it - and the fact midi was apparently added to Studio One as an afterthought. It's not surprising really, given that by far the biggest market for daws is people that just want to load in audio loops and samples to 'lay down some banging beats', where all that matters is audio pluggins and mixing. Another market is the project or small commercial studios, recording real instruments (most of the people that use virtual instruments don't need the services of a commercial studio, unlike your typical guitar band)l Also, it's unlikely that many of those who have spent years learning one of the established midi daws inside out are going to switch to a new one, even if its workflow is good.

I bought a FP 8 but then sent it back when i realized the above, and I am going with the qcon pro instead, and I will not be moving to Studio One as I had once planned too.

Sorry if this seems negative, but as a commentator on music tech said recently there is no point in buying products that are not aimed mainly at doing what you do - few poeple would choose Live! for doing large orchestral arrangements for instance - as the development priorites are never going to match yours, and the biggest investment most users will make is the time they spend learning to use their daws effectively.
