If I want to use a DAW like Digital Performer and I don't see it in the list of supported DAWs for FaderPort 8, why is that application and other DAWs supported? There are only a limited number listed. What if I want to switch to another application, do I have to wait for an update?

We support most commonly used DAWs, this list of popular DAWs changes and at the time of release we felt we were supporting the best sampling of products currently in use. While there are other DAWs, Trackers and Sequencers on the market, we knew we wouldn't be able to create templates for all of them.

In order for anyone interested in getting the most out of their FaderPort 8 for their setup, they can customize their application to our MIDI Specification for how we mapped the FaderPort 8 to Studio One. This is detailed in the FaderPort 8 User Guide. This allows any application company or individual user to create their own implementation.

Starting on page 57 of the Appendix in the Faderport 8 User Guide details how to access the customized MIDI Mode and the subsequent pages document all of the embedded functionality that you can map in your application for the FaderPort 8 to control.

Check with your documentation for your application on how to setup customized controller templates, some use XML files, some just use MIDI Learn, each application is a little different. If you're not sure, you may need to contact your DAW vendor for more information. Usually looking in their user manual and/or knowledge base on the subject will find you the answers you need.
