Song suddenly turned crackly

Created a song in around 5 hours, very happy with it, just finished it and was listening to it one last time when it started crackling awfully. Every sound played was robotic and extremely crackly - not like CPU crackling. It happens occasionally on my PC, when the sound is run through my audiobox. To stop it I need to change the number of samples in my audiobox control panel, which usually fixes it. However, every other sound now works but the song sounds the same, just as crackly. The autosaves sound the same. The files in the media folder sound fine however.

Exporting a mixdown of it results in a perfect file... Any ideas?

Sorry to hear about the recent issues you have been experiencing.

This does sound like the CPU is being put under a bit of strain, the buffer may be set too low.

Here are some basic trouble shooting steps:

1. Please make sure Windows is optimized: https://www.sweetwater.com/sweetcare/articles/pc-optimization-guide-for-windows-10/

2. Set Options > Audio Setup > Processing > Dropout Protection to Maximum. This is a new feature that is very powerful. I recommend reading up on DropOut Protection in the Studio One Reference Manual.

3. If you open the performance monitor in Studio One, you can view the resources that are being used by each of your plug-ins. See if you can find a particular plug-in or set of plug-ins that might be causing the issue.

This may be bit more involved than what the Answers system is intended, so please create a support ticket to discuss this in more detail.
