The technical specs for Studio One 3 are on the product tech spec page here... generally speaking, the best system you can afford is good with some caveats which will be outlined later in this post.

-  As relates to the application freezing, that could be caused by different things like plugins, rewire, etc, etc. so it often takes a bit more time to troubleshoot if no crash report is being generated. If it keeps happening open a support ticket so an agent can guide you through some of the more detailed troubleshooting steps.  One common step is to go to Options > Advanced > Services and disable any services that you never use like (examples) video, Melodyne, Rewire, etc.

- Real time audio performance doesn't have a truly linear relationship to computer specs or speed or power.  The video below explains it all pretty well..

If you are consistently seeing CPU spikes it could be that your system has bottlenecks that can't handle the real time demands of the work that you do or cannot perform reliably at a certain low buffer size.  Lastly, using "Transform to Audio Track" on instruments that don't require editing at the moment to reduce CPU strain.
