I recently learned how to use a recorded cymbal hit and then reverse the audio so that it makes the “swell” sound that I’m looking for. But is there a way that I can make this same sound using MIDI controls since I do not have an actual cymbal to record?

Search fro MIDI Cymbal Swells on youtube. You will find a few good lessons on doing it, although not is S1. The method works equally well in S1, though... Good Luck
