That's cool, but I'm meaning inside Layers, not tracks.

So, the issue I'm running into is that, let's say I'm recording a drummer (20+ tracks), and he performs multiple takes of one song. In each take, he may start at different places, not play exactly the same tempo (the metronome was no help. See below*). In one take, his performance was flawless to the every end, but he mucked up the actual ending. So, I stopped the recording, and we started again, but only recording the ending on a new Layer. So, let's assume the best take was on Layer 4 of each of these 20 tracks. Layer 5 now contains a better ending, but just the ending, so he didn't have to retrack the whole song to get a more solid ending. As you know, punching in on drums is an exercise in futility in any DAW.

Now that I have the new ending recorded in a new layer, I want to simply select all the Layer 5 audio events (the song ending) and slide them to where they will line up to the end of Layer 4 so I can comp them. I can't seem to move the audio events in a Layer, which would be the more intuitive method. In Sonar, I can simply click-drag any audio clip to literally anywhere, and it will play wherever I land it. Is there an easy way to do this in S1?

*Metronome Note: We found the metronome, or tempo map frustrating, limited, and very difficult to work with. We simply couldn't use it.

Apologies for the odd way this question is asked. It pertains to another question, and I'm seriously having trouble getting used to this forum's way of working.

Please forgive me for my "read the manual" response, but there's a section in the editing portion of the manual that will tell you in detail exactly how to do this. (comping).

Essentially, you have a 'master' track, and then all your layers. You can select specific sections of any layer and promote it to the master track. They do have to be in roughly the same time frame, so if you're talking about moving something from the 2minute mark to the 3 minute mark etc, then that's going to require some slicing and dicing.

This is the crux of the question, yes. So, my expectation is that I will have to spend a bit more time to accomplish this task in S1.

How awful is to get to the right question and find no anwsers.

Did anybody find out how this can be done ? @brconflict Did you ever got to it? Or did you change your DAW? :P.
I think this should be a straightforward task. Yet I don't seem to find an answer neither by intution nor in the internet.

I'd be REALLY astonished if this can't be done.
