Do I need a midi device to record instruments in studio one 3?

I do not own a keyboard or midi controller yet, so I am just using my mouse to make tracks. Is that possible.

You can set up the qwerty keyboard to act as a controller. A little clunky, but it may be better than the mouse for you. Go to configure external devices, and I think its listed under the Presonus category.
