Using my late 2016 macbook pro (2.9 ghz, 16GB ram) running high sierra.
StudioLive Series III 32R, Firmware version 1.6.13152
UC version 2.5.1.45526
Connection is as follows:
StudioLive Series III 32R --USB--> --USB to USB-C adapter--> Macbook pro
I am experiencing a lot of intermittent problems with USB connectivity. Most often, I receive a message about "Unplug the device using too much power to re-enable USB devices". Once i receive this message, Universal Control no longer will find the 32R via USB.
This normally happens after the 32R has been disconnected from USB, and I try to reconnect it later. However, it has occurred on system startup as well, and it has occurred while connected to the 32R via USB, causing a disconnect.
Sometimes it seems to be resolved with a restart, but will appear again if the 32R is disconnected and reconnected. Once this occurs, I haven't found a way to resolve it aside from restarting the computer, which only works some of the time.
I have tried:
-Resetting the SMC. Seems to have worked temporarily, but i still received the message after this.
-Placing a powered USB hub between the 32R and my macbook. This didn't work at all. The macbook didn't recognize the 32R at all.
This seems like a driver issue, and it has even crashed my macbook on more than one occasion. I am nervous about using the macbook to record audio for fear of a disconnect.
Has anyone experienced this or does anyone have any insight?
Thanks,
Joel Frazier
