Why are my input meters showing incoming signal when I have nothing playing in DAW?  Basic I know but its bugging me.

If a signal is showing on the channel meters something is coming from somewhere so look at the Inputs section of the meter if there are live monitored input or look at the plugins on that channel which may be outputting low level noise so check those one by one.
