I guess you mean there is no scaling option for automation lanes like in the tempo track.
It would be a big improvement when we could ajust the min and max values in automation tracks.

However, the zoom functions are very powerful, I use these buttons all the time:
E, W: Zoom In, Zoom Out
Shift + E, Shift + W: Zoom Vertical In/Out
Alt + Shift = Zoomtool:
Alt +Shift + MouseRectangle: Zoom to Area
Alt + Shift + MouseClick: Return from zoom area (works over multiple zoom areas)
Z: Toggle zoom, Alt + Z: Zoom Full, Shift + Z: Store as specific zoom view
...and take a look at the Automation Edit functions in the manual - great workflow!
