Master Fader Lock: What is it? How do I know if it's on?

Probably a stupid question, but I am lost here. I can't find any reference to this feature in the manual, and tinkering with the thing doesn't appear to give any indication of its function. Also there is no way to ascertain its status.

Basically by holding down the button, it will flash and then the master fader will act as the main fader for the flex mix that is selected and remain so until you un lock it.
