Most of us are using touch screen monitors and need all of the protection we can get against unwanted and accidental inputs. Our other finger, shirt sleeve, elbow, etc. all has and can devistate a mix or a project without us knowing.
By being able to lock every action possible will give the engineer added confidence that he is operating securely.
