I need more line level inputs than my Studiolive 16 Series 3 mixer has and was told to look into a DI Box,. I was about to buy a Radial Rack mount for $799 when I see I could get the extra inputs by getting a 16R at the same price?

1) What are the Pro and Cons?

2) What input on my SL Mixer would go from what output on the 16R be used?

Please help

Thanks

1) The Radial Rack DI would be a waste of money. The Palmer's are equally good or not really less "good". You won't hear the difference at all.

2) A 16R is a good idea, because it adds (!) 16 more inputs to your console. You can route the 16R's inputs in banks of eight to channels 1 to 32. It doesn't need more than a single CAT5e/CAT6 cable to connect the mixers. The 16R is also handy as a stand-alone mixer for small gigs.

Getting a 16R rack mixer would probably be the best solution for you.

So I can use a single CAT6 cable from the 16R to the 16 instead of taking each Din output from the 16R to a Din (Mic) input on the 16?

The answer is YES and the winner gets 10 points... ;-)

I would like to say it again: The 16R can be a stagebox for the 16 physical channels of the SL16, but it can also add 16 more channels (17 to 32), because the SL16 is a 32 channel mixer.
