Use Studiolive 24R as Stage Box with non-Presonus FOH Mixers

Hey All!

I'm a working musician and am using a 24R with my band on stage so we can do our own monitor mixes on QMix. We rarely are able to use it for FOH as venues are hesitant to use anything other than their installed boards, which is understandable. That means using a split snake to split to the 24R and then to FOH.

I would like to eliminate the bulky splitter we have to lug with us and take advantage of AVB and run our mix to FOH over ethernet. I consider myself pretty techy but I'm still foggy on AVB. Here's my questions:

  • Does the FOH board need to be a Presonus Studiolive board to use AVB, or would it work with any AVB enabled board?
  • For non AVB boards, is there a relatively light, digital solution to get the channels from the 24R to a non AVB FOH board? What equipment would I need?
  • Are there any solutions I might not be thinking of?
Again, my goal is to not have to bring my splitter if the house doesn't have one, and take more digital advantage of my equipment.
Thanks in advance for any guidance!

Unfortunately the anwer to all your questions is No. There will be no way around using splitters. It's actually normal that bands bring their own splitters, because there are many different boards used in venues and there is not the one system that fits for all and for everything.

The only alternative is to mix on your band via tablet and send Main L/R to the house PA.
