Old Monitor Station v1 LOUD clipping output with no inputs

I love my old v1 Monitor Station that I've used for years! It's been trusty and reliable until recently. Out of nowhere, the MSv1 output a LOUD, nasty noise and displayed clipped meters (see image below). This happens without any inputs plugged into the device.

It's worth mentioning that the power supply buzzes slightly, however it's not warm. It may have done this before, but I've never noticed it.

My questions are: any insights into 1) what's going on, and 2) how to fix it?

Cheers,

Scotty

I fixed the problem when I bought a v2 Monitor Station on ebay.

That doesn't help, I know, but it wasn't worth the hassle to pay for shipping it back for repair and then the costs to fix it.

I had the exact same thing happen, like you described, out of nowhere!  Haven't figured it out yet.

Same problem here!

I just hope there's no long term damage to my monitors and headphones. that was one nasty noise.

How come no one of the Presounus support responds?!

In my case there is the same problem. I opened the controler, probably the cause in my case are 2 damaged capacitors on the power circuit. This week I will replace them and see if it works, let you know.

My wife came running into the bedroom this morning to wake me up to my monitors going bananas.... It was LOUD CLIPPING as described... I have an electronics background and will tear it apart to see since they ceased support for it...angry
