Because there is no way to make the Pattern Editor the default editor for certain types of tracks (eg drums) the current workflow of inserting patterns and then changing pattern length or using a modifier to insert a pattern between locators before recording just isn't intuitive. A few steps could be removed by just allowing us to for example have a preference to create Pattern tracks over drum tracks by default so that we can just hit record and go, straight into pattern mode without having to fiddle with modifiers and bar adjustments every 2 seconds.
