Why can't I randomize events when playing through a piece? The option is greyed out in the menu

2008 Macbook, Core 2 Duo, OSX 10.7.5, 8 GB Ram, 1 TB HD. Latest version of Notion 5, free sound packages installed.

Select a region or all of your score, then go to Randomize events and make your adjustments.It's not available during playback
