Question

How do you actually activate Midi on the fly Mode? I assume you mean that, when FP16 is on SO mode, you can switch to midi mode to use it as a controller then back to normal again. Is that the way it is supposed to work??

Hi,

Switching from native to midi mode requires a hardware reset.  It require powering down, holding a button combo as you repower and then selecting midi mode.  

You would then have to repeat this to get it back to native mode again.

Hi and thanx for the response. I am aware of the reset holding down the mute buttons 1&2 method. The term "on the fly midi mode", seems to point to a different direction, that they actually figured out a way to switch the unit just like you do with Sends or Plugins or something like that, and that's the reason I thought I'd ask. :) To my understanding that would logically be something to call "on the fly"

Hi.  I have a new answer for you on this subject.  I watched a Gregor video on Youtube via the Presonus channel.  Your "on the fly" midi switch is available.  (I only found out about it two days ago.)  Its actually a matter of pressing both shift buttons on the faderport to switch from native to midi and back again.  This is the "on the fly" you spoke about.  Of course, you need to set up the faderport to send and receive midi via the external devices menu.  It should show as "faderport midi".  (I am yet to test this feature out properly as my computer has had issues and is sitting in the computer shop.)  Now, you do need the most recent firmware updates for the FP and the most recent version of Universal Control for all this to work.  I found out via a video as I was watching some stuff on YouTube.  For me, it will help with controls for Impact XT as the atom doesn't have enough encoders for all control features.  Sorry it's been so long for me to get back to you with a proper answer.  I hope this works for you now.

Hello and thank you once more for your response. I saw the video myself, that's exactly what I meant, for the life of me I do not understand why they do not document such things, it will take 30 seconds to mention this in the release note, but never the less we get there.
