Backwards/forward compatibility

Long time user...first time poster.

I'm thinking about upgrading to 4 but I don't think that my travel laptop will be powerful enough to handle it. Are PROJECT FILES compatible between versions? Specifically...is it backwards compatible. If I work on a project in v4, can I open it in v2 when I need to work on it "on the road" (aka, my travel laptop.)

You can open older projects in newer versions of Studio One but not the other way around.
