I've dug through the Answers and Help files searching for an official answer, to no avail.

It might be beneficial to add this to the Studio One 5 General Help page!

Are Studio One 3/4 files fully compatible with Studio one 5? Are there any changes that should be made to sessions before opening them in S1 5?

And

Is S1 5 a complete, separate, and independent installation from other versions?

I read this in one of the upgrade docs, don't remember which one at the moment, might be the release notes.....

In answer to your questions in reverse order:

Studio One 5 is a separate installation. Studio 4 will still be on your computer and functional, and you can run either one - just not both at the same time.

Studio One 5 can open files/projects from previous versions, but the reverse is not true. Once you save something in V5, it won't work with earlier versions.
