S1 V5 upgrade price a little steep? Subscription off grid?

As an S1 user since version 2, paid all the way to version 4.6, and owning both Notion & Progression, I'm thinking that the upgrade price of nearly 150 euros is a bit steep - given that, if they got it right, Notion will now be redundant software on my machine. Unless the scoring functions within S1 are severely limited of course.

**There's little information about the depth of scoring functions in V5, is Presonus planning a more detailed video to demonstrate?** My mistake, I found the video and it looks pretty impressive for day to day stuff and basic part writing from instrumentation written in midi, and as I use Dorico for outputting PDF scores, the integrated scoring in S1 would be a great sketchpad or starting point for score creation later.

As for subscription, I generally don't like this model, but there is a lot on offer - for the same cost as upgrading, so again, a bit of a disparity for those who prefer ownership of an app. And more information is really needed on how this will function on a machine for example that is used off grid - no internet - does it have to be authorised online periodically? Need to know these things!

***OK so I just found someone else had asked a question about online with Sphere, and the answer is EVERY THREE DAYS one has to connect to the Internet to keep it working. That is simply a no go.

Thoughts anyone?

I totally agree with you. There should be more tiers of upgrade pricing, depending on which version you already own.

It seems like Presonus are very keen to push us towards the subscription with all its content. In my opinion thats a very bad sign for all of us who want Studio One for its core DAW features. I was very excited to see MPE integration and the Score View feature, but am now hesitant to invest in a product that seems to be headed in a very wrong direction for my needs.

If this stands I'll probably go back to using Reaper & Logic for my work. Very disappointing after taking my chances with Presonus.
