why don't UC Legacy and UCAI work on the same computer

You can do a co-install of the two.

Install UC Ai / UC Surface First

Then install Class UC

When you install UC 2.x or higher it will remove the older install and you'll need to re-install class UC each time you update UC (for Ai, RM).
