All the stock plugins in Studio One 3 (aside from Mai Tai, Presence XT, Console Shaper, and VU Meter) still reflect the design of Studio One version 1 and 2, including the radial gradient knob toppers and plain grey backgrounds. With the radical design shift of Studio One version 3, it would make sense for the stock plugins to receive a new look, too. Darker background, sleeker, less toy-like controls, more accurate metering (maybe?), would all be appreciated.
The goal with plugin redesigns would be to instill confidence in the users that what they are using is of high quality. I personally love the RMS-detected compressor and Pro EQ, but I don't enjoy looking at them. Third party plugins don't always represent an advantage, but oftentimes they are more aesthetically attractive. By redesigning the stock plugins to match S1v3, my hope is that they would look serious enough to make users confident in using (maybe only using) the stock plugins of their DAW.
I'm not talking about faux toggle switches and meters a la Console Shaper, ADL 600, or VU Meter plugins, but rather solid, robust-looking controls with graphics that match the DAW, possibly like the appearance of some newer Native Instruments software controls...possibly. Primarily I'm requesting the graphics be updated to match the DAW, not that the graphics have a specific look. However, I believe many new NI products are a good example of what came to mind.
Again, the stock plugins are incredibly useful, and the interfaces should instill as much confidence in them as they can, because the mix engineer is a human being and will choose more aesthetically pleasing plugins before the stock ones.
EDIT: updated title to better represent the request.
