Question

If I monitor my mac with headphones with S1 version 5 professional and plug in a stereo Y cord to send it to my monitors studio one will either lock down and the play button will not engage my recorded tracks or if I go to my system preferences it gives a preference error and it "could not load a sound preference pane"

This will only resolve if I completely reboot my Macbook pro

It is like studio one is freezing

That doesn't make sense. Studio One has no idea (and doesn't care) what you've plugged into your headphone jack.

It's got to be something else you've changed in your configuration,
