When I compare the headphone out between my keyboard jack and the connected AudioBoxUSB96 jack the sound is inferior.

I have been comparing the headphone sound from my keyboard (which has a beautiful full sound) with the headphone jack from the AudioBoxUSB96 (which has a dull and distorted sound).  Shouldn't they have the same sound quality?
