Question

Hi all, just a quick question regarding the latency introduced in my set up. Not sure if it's a Studio One thing, a RME thing (my interface is a Fireface 802), or simply user error on my part.

My mix template with all plugins bypassed = 0 ms latency

My mix template with all plugins bypassed + 1 instance of Pipeline activated = 94.5 ms latency

My mix template with all plugins bypassed + 2 instances of Pipeline activated = 189 ms latency

To me, that seems like a whole load of latency just to be sending an electrical signal out the D/A and back through the A/D???

These numbers are all at the highest buffer size too = 2048 samples.

Any thoughts on this would be great.

@aka_busker: Thanks for that. I've 2 units on the mix bus (a subgroup I have created that feeds the master fader).

I've not daisy-chained the units for the signal flow, each unit has it's own I/O in case I want to easily use them on other channel. A round trip of 95 ms for each unit seems crazy. Anyone else have outboard connected? What's the pipeline xt latency?

Hi.  Not sure what outboard gear you are using with pipeline so o cannot comment.  There is, however, something that sprung to mind and it involves the Pro E.q.2..  If you are using the LLC mode of the pro e.q.2 it will add a heap of latency per instance.  Parallel instances don't add up but serial instances combine the LLC (linear low cut) latency.  As for your roundtrip thru pipeline xt, i don't know what kit you are using other than the interface.
