In Reaper when a midi track is created it is instantly in the track and console view, I cannot find a way of creating a midi track in the console in Studio One 3

You can't, simply because Studio One doesn't use MIDI channel faders for MIDI tracks.
The console shows (VST) audio channels, (FX) busses and VCA's.

This had me stumped for hours.

As someone who is looking at switching over- if there is one thing I'd like to see added is MIDI faders in the console for external equipment.

Hi,

this is also a thing I miss really. But I thing we will never see this in S1, beacuse it is a part of their philosophy with S1. I would also think it is much easier to have a fader for each track for the mix - and many people are not using only vst-instruments.
