When sending a group of tracks to a bus with a compressor on it I would like to keep the compression the same and be able to change the track level without affecting the amount of bus compression. (like Reaper does it)

In the example posted, your track volume is what determines how much compression you have, less track volume is going to go over threshold less. Not really sure how this could work differently, how does reaper do it?

You should check out the VCA faders new to 3.2. I'm all new to S1, haven't done it yet but it should work fine.

That's probably how Reaper does it, their busses may be a combination of buss and VCA.

@shawneib Independent of the fader (Reaper has flexible routing) @erikhusler Yes, like a VCA, but with inserts possible

Why not just adjust the buss level? It seems like what you want to happen requires every channel compress the same amount regardless of their summing levels, which would only be possible by pre-fader sidechaining every channel on that buss to the key input on your buss compressor, which sounds like going around your *** to get to your elbow to me. A VCA-controlled summing level would do the exact same thing as changing the summing level to begin with, and your buss insert would compress more or less as before. I don't see how this is possible as described, or even necessary.

That is not what I mean…. I would like to be able to control the volume of different channels independent of the amount of compression on a bus with inserts. Control the bus volume is already possible.
