The Revelator io44 claims 4 ins, 4 outs, and looking at the details of the control panel app, it would appear there is an input for mic, headset, and line L/R.  But the specs and manual don't talk about the headset input.  Is it a mic preamp?  What is the maximum input level and impedance?

I don't know those specifications. However it appears to work with four pole and three pole mics and headphones. I'm sure there are some that might need an adapter although it seems universal. I use a four pole splitter for a headphone and a mic. I put a lavalier mic in and it works. Therefore the port probably conducts anywhere from 3 to 5 volts.. The presets are headset mic oriented therefore they carry a different algorithm. That port and its effects work  much better for my Rode lavalier than an XLR adapter on port 1. My mic in on that particular port has just failed. However, I believe mine is a lemon. It had some stainge static when I was inserting it right from the beginning. I just felt it was part of the device behavior. However, about 2 weeks shy of 60 days it failed. Again, I don't believe it's every IO 44. I think something was wrong with the one I purchased. I am waiting on PreSonus to get back to me on how we're going to handle that. I've been enjoying podcasting through that port. The port is really a much different port than port 1. Especially the presets and how the effects affect the  sound...
