What would be causing my audio files associated with a song to be lost immediately after recording?

As I am working in S1-5.5.2 I have a song that was started 2 weeks ago. Came back to it yesterday to find all but 2 of the audio files (101) related to the song missing. When searching in the media folder, the 2 files were the only ones to be found. After searching my hard drive for them and not locating them I decided to just redo the whole thing, starting with re-recording the MIDI tracks from an external sound library.

All of the instrumental parts from the external device have been recorded and were done so flawlessly. However, while re-recording the vocal parts lost, occasionally parts that are recorded (and visualized while recording) would disappear with the "File Not Found" message at the bottom of the clip. When opening the media browser in S1, missing files can be played, yet waves are not seen. I attempted to move those unseen files (that are actually being heard) from the pool of files in the media browser to the project to no avail.

Another part to this is that upon closing the file after saving the song, then restarting S1, some of the missing files from the latest recording session (those clips that seemingly "disappeared) were found displaced on other tracks in random parts of the song. This is weird!!

This phenomena just began to occur and I have not attempted to work on any other songs as of yet. What could be the problem?? Below are the computer specs. Can you help??

System Specs:

  • Intel(R) Core(TM) i3-6100U CPU @ 2.30GHz   2.30 GHz
  • 8.00 GB
  • Windows 10 Pro 64Bit
  • Studio One 5.5.2.86528 (Updated 4/8/22)
