While recording an orchestral piece part by part, I like to have the MIDI in the Edit View visible and turn on other instruments like the piano sketch in the background. If I start recording and mess up, and I hit stop, all of my background instruments disappear and I have to re-enable them all. Even if I don't mess up, I still like to see how what I just recorded meshes with the other instruments.
