I have gone to open a wav file from a friend also using studio one. I am getting "file not compatible because it has been created with a newer version of studio one" wav files are supposedly universal accepted, why is this even happening.
I have contacted support with little effort in helping apart from telling me they are not backward compatible and to upgrade and saying write a feature.
How much is upgrade.
Will it solve the problem.
Why is your own programme not compatible with itself
How many times do I have to keep paying for an upgrade to open a universal file.
If I upgrade can I still open all my work that is already saved. I heard you cant.
Should you be able to import any wav file.
I understand new features may need upgrading or to buy add ones, but this takes the biscuit, and is disgusting tactics if I have to pay to be able to open other people's files, especially those recorded on the same brand.
Any help greatfully received on how to rectify this situation along with recommendations for a non money grabbing DAW
