Hello,
I am new to Studio One and would like to replace my existing live setup of Logic Pro + Gig Performer with the Show Mode of Studio One. It's a band setup with multiple channels changing patches (Vocals, 2x Guitar and Bass) along with backing tracks. I've watched quite a few tutorials by now and it seems like the workflow is much easier and faster in Studio One than across two softwares.
Here's one integral part of my workflow where I couldn't see if and how this could be solved in Studio One:
In my show file I have all backing tracks as well as DI recordings of Guitars/Bass. When I work on Patches for Guitar sounds (Amp Simulation and effects) I play the file with all backing and DI tracks and can listen to how it sounds in context without having to play guitar at the same time. after it is set up I just switch the input from the recorded DI to the Live input and I'm set.
In Studio One it appears that there is a strict separation in the Player Tracks between Backing (where I could play my DI Tracks and create Patches according to my workflow) and AUX (where the actual guitar would play in a live setup). So it appears that after setting up all patches on the Backing DI Track I have to copy all patches to the corresponding live track and then define the same regions (Song Parts) for the same patches and to keep it synchronized I would have to replicate any change in one track also on the other track. That sounds like a lot of extra effort.
So my question is, how can I create effect patches for live Instruments based on pre recorded tracks without having to play them in that moment and then use the same patches and positions they are selected also on the Aux track.
Solutions I was looking for but couldn't find were:
- Internal routing of the Output of a Backing track to the input of an Aux track
- Synchronizing or at least copying patches and corresponding regions between two tracks, one Aux and one Backing
- Changing the nature of the track. Create a Backing track, make all settings, then switch that track to Aux for the live performance (it will then ignore the DI regions on that track) and switch back when I want to work on the sounds again.
If any of this is possible or if there is a different way to solve this please let me know.
Thanks,
Timon
