I have a brand new Central Station Plus. My normal talkback mic is a Shure SM7B, which I plugged into the external talkback mic jack on the back of the central station, and I pushed the button that enables the external talkback mic. I thought that the external mic option was not working, as I could not hear anything through headphones from that mic. I discovered that for the remote to allow the talkback mic to work, the volume control on the central station itself had to be turned up to max volume, and the volume control on the remote had to be turned up to max volume. At that point, I could barely hear myself talking through the SM7B. So I replaced the SM7B with a Shure SM58. With both volume controls turned all the way up, I do now hear myself talking through the talkback mic, but only if I get right up on the mic....3" away, I can barely hear myself.
Is this normal behavior??? I can live with the volume with everything turned up, but it is not ideal, and knowing this, I would never have bought this unit in the first place. Is there anything I can do to increase external talkback mic volume, and also, what is the recommended mic to be used as an external talkback mic?
