I have asked this question before and it was not answered to my satisfaction.

This was my original question:

I am feeding the TRS  1input on the Central Station from Pro Tools HD interface. The interface is calibrated at -18 which means I am presenting  a +22 dbv signal to the TRS inputs. I am not satisfied with the sound and it only sounds good when I turn my master fader down and present a lower level signal to the Central Station.  I suspect I am overloading the input?

I can't find it in your specs buy what is the maximum input level on the TRS inputs?

The answer given to me by Alex Tinsley was:

Make sure you have calibrated your Central Station.

Refer to the user guide on how to do this.

Then retry your setup.

My response: That is not an answer to my question!!! Please tell me what the maximum input level can be in dbv that the TRS input can take before it starts to clip.

I asked the Engineering group for a more informed answer:

Because the Central Station utilizes a passive signal path from main TRS input to main SPEAKER output, there is really no way to overload the main TRS input per se. You can however, overload the signal to the other, non-passive sections of the product, e.g. SPDIF out, audio meter, headphones, mono-sum, etc. Maximum input level for the non-passive sections of the product is +18 dBu (+15.8 dBv) unbalanced, +24 dBu (+21.8 dBv) balanced.

Also, for the purely passive signal path of the product, we can drive the TRS inputs with a +27 dBu (+24.8 dBv) signal and measure .00075% THD+N at the SPEAKER output (stereo mode).
