When does it make sense to start over with a fresh install of Studio One?

I'm sure I'm not the only one in this position, but I was wondering if anyone out there could shed some light on a subject I am struggling with.

I have been through 3 different computers and have migrated from Studio one Professional all the way through series 2 and now Studio One 3 professional since its release. During that time I have gone from an old Mac Pro (2008) with loads of internal memory. My current computer is now a 2011 Macbook Pro on elCaptain 10.11.6 and I have now installed a 4 TB external hard drive as a home for all of my music, plug ins, sound sets, loops, etc. etc. I'm beginning to find it's a little like herding cats! I seem to have a bunch of different locations for everything and it now seems that it takes quite a while for Studio One to boot up as it looks all over the place for my files. While my music is well organized, sometimes when i load a song up to S1-3 it can't always find the various plug ins and loops i've used a year ago, even though I know they are there. I have to go find them each time.

I'm not a computer wizard (obviously), but I have a basic understanding of the notion of file locations etc. What I was hoping is perhaps there is a place someone knows I can go for the resource info or perhaps pay for service to help streamline my DAW and get me back to the joy of my hobby.

I've searched the knowledge base but cannot seem to find any such articles.

anyone got any ideas? Love any and all suggestions.

thanks!

RJ

You concerns are valid but would not really benefit from reinstalled software.  Only time this may be needed is if you are installing a newly formatted hard drive or your system files are seriously corrupted in which a reformat might be nice.  No, you need to get organized.  You are not the only one to let file management get unruly.  A little organization early can spare you headaches later.

This is an older video demonstrating everything you need to know about the Save Functions of Studio One version 2, but some if not most will still apply.
