El Capitan (last version), Studio One 3 Artist, Mac Mini 2.8 (dual core i5), Presonus audio/midi interface, iPad 2 Air,

I wish to record audio from an iPad sequencer and have the clock either send or slave to Studio One 3 Artist so later live audio tracks I record can be quantized if necessay with DAW click.  Do I need an external iOS to midi convertor (such as the IK midi 2), or will Studio One 3 Artist recognize the iOS clock through USB and sync (either slave or send) through other settings in the DAW?  I will also need to record the audio from iPad sequence while synced.

Studio One 3 will not sync to another clock source.  It wants to be the master clock in the setup.  If you create a New Instrument in the External Devices list, there is an option to set an output port as well as choose the option to send MIDI clock.  If you send the MIDI clock to an external source, you could then connect that source to your iPad and sync your sequencer on your iPad to it, should that sequencer have this option.  If you are connecting a MIDI device to an iPad, you will want to contact the manufacturer of that device for information on the adapter that should be used.  Some devices have the chip in them that enable the MIDI ports on the ipad.  If your device has the chip, then you can use the camera-kit-adapter.  If your MIDI device that you are connecting to your iPad does not have the chip in it, then you will need an adapter like the IK midi 2.
