How to make vocals sound better?

I recently set up a studio booth that is pretty much sound proof. I have been trying to lay some vocals down over a track for the last few days and I cannot get my vocal track to sound high enough quality to make it worth recording. I'm not sure if this is something I can fix with some of the EQ settings on the track or what. I have been making beats for a while but vocals are something that is completely new to me. Any feedback is appreciated.
