In trying to save backups (i see them in the temp folder on the computer while they are saving then they disappear) for either my Ai 16.4.2 or RML32 with UC 2.0 and can't. On the mixers a lot of the the user presets are blank, but still have the names. on the computer the presets are fine. I have tried using AVB and Firewire. I am using El Capitan and they have never had a problem before.

"The Backup tab displays any backup logs that have been created in UC Surface. The Backup tab allows you to create complete, time-stamped snapshots of your StudioLive. This can be especially useful when completing a project that may need to be revisited in the future. To create a backup, simply click on the Backup button. To restore any backup file, select it and click the Restore button."

This is what the manual says in section 5.7.3. "Backup Tab (StudioLive AI-series)". It is not explained, where the files are located (probably on computer running UC Surface). If there are backup files, they should be seen in the tab - and nowhere else. You may want to think about the word "backup" like it is described above, and what you want to acchieve.

Missing presets can only be restored by a firmware recovery, which simply is a new install of the firmware. It is important to use matching versions of firmware and software, which in your case are:

Universal Control 2.0 (Mac/PC) - 2.0.0.41902
UC Surface (iOS) - 2.0.0.41902
Capture (Mac/PC) 2.3.0.41943
RM Mixer Firmware v9244
AI Console Firmware v9194

It may be that your mixers refuse the storing or recalling of preset names. Have a look in the scene menu of your SL 1642AI. It should say "Name Yes". You can also find the recall settings in UC Surface. The function is called "Scene filters".

StudioLive Software Reference Manual-EN_V6_210220171, section 5.5.5 says: " Presets and scenes can be stored locally on your StudioLive mixer or locally on your computer and copied between the two. Presets and Scenes stored in the mixer library can be copied to the device running UC Surface either individually or you can sync the entire preset library."

Please don't use the retagg function, just add an answer...

all of the filters are "yes" and the backups have been working for 10 years that is why i have them and know where to watch them. It should back up, but does not finish the process. and the names have been ok for years so why would that change, I do not change the names when I re-call them from the computer (and they are there on the scene but not in the channel) and i can only bring them over by loading them on the mixer to a channel then save them to a new number and re name them (same name in my case) but then the back up save completely. and if i try to move a preset to the mixer ti may or may not work (not the same every time - if i do it ten times i get ten different results) i understand what it should do, but it is not doing it the same, and the boards do not link together in uc control
